Get to know our new LDEI Hawaii members, socialize, and taste highlights from Buho’s menu. Chef Arturo Silva will speak with us about his inspiration for this new restaurant with a unique setting.

Buho is one of Honolulu’s newest restaurants atop of Waikiki on the 5th floor rooftop of The Waikiki Shopping Center. Using locally sourced produce and proteins, Buho combines flavors for a more updated Mexican cuisine which owner Hide Sakurai is calling “Modern Mexican”. Some of what Buho offers may seem familiar, other dishes are definitely updated. We will have an opportunity to taste a mix of both.

Salsa Trio: salsa roja, chipotle orange, tomatillo habanero, freshly made tortilla chips

Pork Belly Flautas: homemade guacamole, escabeche, cotija cheese

Mexican Street Corn: whole yellow corn, ancho aioli, queso fresco

Goat Cheese Quesadillas: goat cheese, rajas, salsa verde

Quinoa – Stuffed Chile Relleno: pasilla poblano, red bell pepper, oyster mushrooms, quinoa, chile arbol sauce, queso fresco (no cheese for vegans)

Tempura Kauai Shrimp Tacos: mango pico, chipotle aioli

Shinsato Farms Carnitas Tacos: cabbage, pickled red onions

Pan – Seared Duck Breast: duck breast, papas fritas, green beans, caramelized onions, salsa de naranja

Habañero Mexican Brownie: Mexican chocolate, cinnamon, habañero peppers, chocolate ganache, Maui roselani vanilla ice cream, fresh raspberries
