Saturday’s farm tours are a wonderful way for Dames from both the Big Island and Oahu to socialize and network while enjoying the hospitality of some of our Big Island Dames. Each Dame will be opening up their home, farm or factory to us complementary for part of the day. This is a unique opportunity to meet and learn more about Dames from both Island’s prior to attending the Escoffier Dinner at the Fairmont Orchid.

Farm Tour, Wailea Agricultural Group: 10:00 am – 11:30 am

Dame Lesley Hill will open up her incredible farm to us and guide dames on a tour to show us her famous Heart of Palm and Exotic Hawaiian Fruits; Finger Limes, Rambutan, Durian, Yuzu, Sour Sap, and more.

Depending on seasonality. This is a rare opportunity to not only see the farm but talk to a knowledgeable farmer who has success selling her produce to restaurants across the United States.

Lite Lunch at Joan’s Home: 12:00 Noon – 1:30 pm
Dame Joan Namkoong

Dame Joan Namkoong will be opening up her beautiful Waimea home to us and is graciously preparing a lite lunch for the Dames.

Joan Namkoong is an accomplished food writer and cook book author. Some of her books include: A Korean Kitchen: Traditional Recipes with an Island Twist, Food Lover’s Guide to Honolulu, Go Home, Cook Rice: A Guide to Buying and Cooking the Fresh Foods of Hawaii. Born in Hawaii, Joan has been instrumental in the growth and awareness of local farmers in Hawaii.

Tropical Dreams Ice Cream Factory Tour: 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Please join us after lunch at Dame Nancy Edney’s Ice Cream Factory for a casual tour. There will be no ice cream production on this day but we will be able to sample some of the best ice cream in Hawaii.

Dame Nancy and her husband John were recognized in 2013 by the U.S. Small Business Administration as Hawaii County’s Small-Business People of the Year. Last year they were also honored by PBN as one of the 50 fasting growing small business in Hawaii. Truly a great success story.
