This year our Annual Meeting and New Member Induction will be on the Hau Terrace at The Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki.  We sincerely invite you to come and not only meet our new members but have the chance to better know Dames who you may only get to see once a year. This is our most attended meeting of the year and we encourage all to make it to this meeting with Dames from all 4 islands!

Join the fun! There will be a raffle Give Away! You must be present to play but you DO NOT have to pay!

We will be spend our First Hour, from 11:00 am – 12:00 Noon with a great networking game to help Dames get to know each other better; especially the ones you don’t know too well or not at all. There is a prize for the Winner: $50 towards any LDEI Hawaii event.

Dame Amelia Delgadillo Lopez

Fit4You Hawaii

Amelia is the Chef/Owner of a healthy meal prep company, Fit4You Hawaii. After nearly a decade in Hospitality as an Executive Client Concierge she decided to pursue her passion for health and wellness through food. Amelia applied her passion for excellence in customer service to the way she approached every customer. As a busy business professional herself she saw the need for a business like hers, as well as the desire to educate people about proper nutrition. Fit4You has just reached their 1 year anniversary. Amelia’s goal is to reach and educate as many people as she can with meals about healthy eating habits as a lifestyle. To collaborate with other small business and create learning opportunities for our communities.

Dame Liane Fu

Sommelier of Yauatcha Restaurant

Liane Fu was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from the Kamehameha Schools before flying off to college in New York City to attend NYU and Brooklyn College. Both a “foodie” and an oenophile, she started seriously studying wine and in 2006 passed the Sommelier exam in February then the Certified Sommelier exam in June of the same year.

She is the Senior Staff Writer for the Hawaii Beverage Guide, the only trade publication in the state. In 2015, she started Speakeasy Productions which provides an assortment of services with a special focus on bar catering, gift baskets and delivery. In 2017, she started working for the Hakasan Group and became a Yauatcha Restaurant Sommelier. In the same year she also became a writer for Wine & Spirits magazine. (You may remember Liane from The Wine Stop.)

Dame Athena Keehu

Athena is the owner and a former award winning costume designer who realized she could combine her rich culinary heritage with her design talents to create beautiful, delicious and unique confections. She has been involved in the culinary business since she was a small child. (Her mom is the amazing Leonora Espania!) Helping in growing the family business and eventually branching out and starting her own company. Athena would like to create more opportunities to meet other like minded women who are in the culinary business.

Dame Marilyn Kiriakos-Askari

Hawaiian Paradise Coffee

Marilyn is director of Sales and has been with Hawaiian Paradise Coffee for 11 years. She has worked with airlines, hotels, mini marts at gas stations, fast food restaurants, etc. Anyone can see how well she has used her Degrees in Business Studies and Marketing to forward the sales of coffee in this highly competitive industry.

Dame Judy Lappert St.Clair

Lappert’s Ice Cream

Lappert’s Hawaii has been a fixture in Hawaii for 30+ years, offering gourmet super premium ice creams, sorbets, bakery and micro roasted coffee. Judy began with the company in October of 1988 as bookkeeper, administrative assistant.  In 1991 she became plant manager which included all aspects of ice cream production, purchasing, shipping, hiring, training.  She left Lappert’s in 1992 to open her own business and returned to Lappert’s in 1996 as sales person for Kauai. Dame Teresa LeMoon

Teresa has studied biochemistry because of her love and passion for science graduating from California State University, then later attended culinary school at Diablo Valley College to satisfy her passion for food preparation. Upon graduation, Teresa worked under Chef Matsuhara Morimoto in his Waikiki restaurant which is when Teresa first moved to Hawaii. Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Nutrition at UH Manoa, she plans on utilizing her education to become a full-time instructor at the community college or university level in instructional foods and nutrition here in Hawaii.

Dame Dania Novack Katz

Dania is our First Maui member is quite a long time. No pressure though.Woman, mother, gardener, accomplished home cook, eater, cancer survivor and friend. Dania resides on the island of Maui for almost 30 years and her two almost adult children. Born and raised in Santa Monica, CA she knew at an early age that good food shared around a dining room table connects people together and is the most powerful political statement. She is college educated and world traveler in search of her next meal. Currently she owns and publishes the James Beard Award Winning food magazine, edible Hawaiian Islands.

Dame Lois Shimabukuro

Tropilicious Ice Cream & Sorbet

Lois was the President and owner of Associated Producers Corp. dba Ka Lei Eggs for many years until her retirement from the egg business in January 2015. Her family has been in food production since 1947. Lois’s goal is to perpetuate locally produced & manufactured foods in Hawaii through creative ideas, business networking, and existing contacts in agriculture and the food industry.

Dame Lauren Takamoto

Manager, Culinary Center, KCC

Lauren is a Certified Culinary Scientist with Food Manufacturing industry experience. The CIC trains students in Food Product Development as well as helps small-businesses with their product development questions. She is a FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food Lead Instructor and Servsafe instructor. Lauren also owns her own food consulting business. She was instrumental in setting up the UHM and KCC 4-year Culinology degree and a new CULN 231-Food Innovation course. She holds a BS in Food Science and Human Nutrition from UHM, M.S. in Food Studies from the University of Queensland, Certificates of Completion in Culinary Arts and Patisserie from KCC and Ph.D. in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
