On Thursday June 29th Les Dames d’Escoffier Hawaii hosted an event featuring a Spirits Tasting paired with Dim Sum at Yauatcha Waikiki. Dame Amy Bender of KAI Spirits paired the drinks to the dim sum and shared some knowledge about each one. The drinks were prepared by Tim Weigel, Chief Mixologist for Hakkasan Group in the United States.

This was a fun (and educational) evening and provided a great opportunity to try a variety of items on the Yauatcha menu as well as enjoy tastings of interesting cocktails, most not on the menu at Yauatcha. There were even prizes for those who were paying attention! The spice and the citrus in the cocktails paired well with the richness of many of the dim sum.

Some of the food highlights (not found in Chinatown) were the Roasted Duck Pumpkin Puff and the Baked Venison Puff made with local Venison. Following the Dim Sum we were then served entrées including Wagyu Beef in Black Pepper Sauce. We finished the meal with a dessert trio of Chocolate Peb- ble, Apple Vanilla Choux and the lovely lavender Cassis Grand Macaron.

Mahalo to Dame Amy Bender of Kai Spirits, Dame Kathi Saks and the staff at Yauatcha Waikiki for an enjoyable evening.
